several people have asked that DG, T.G. and myself post some of our experiences...

we knew of their ability to hunt and kill deer...we would find various types of blinds...off to the side of a deer run, but some where better than others.

we would find them at the top of a crest where a run would come up out of a low spot.

anything coming up the rise..wouldnt have time to adjust visually..or smell what was near.

i knew of group hunts of monkees from our cabin..they would routinely mimik a coyote yelp and howl to induce any coyotes in the area..then meet up with them...thru various repeat howls.

i did get to watch a deer hunt unfold..one morning.

the other guys were spread out..along a creek..

i was in the bottom of a creek bed..hidden in the exposed roots of a huge ttree..

i was a good 4 ft below the top of the creek rim.

but..on the elevated side of the creek.. the other side of the creek was a good 5 feet lower.

about 45 minutes after daybreak..
about 60 yards from me on a blow down tree..was some movement..

i saw a possum in the blow down..after a few minutes i noticed some thing else..

it was a young juvenile ( maybe 3ft tall) BF..
intent of trying to grab that possum..it would grab the possum and the possum would his and throw a fit..and the monkee would let it down..

after a while..the monkee twisted around and ran off into the brush..and started shaking trees and bushes..as well as making god aweful noises..

then it got quiet..really quiet..

bout 15 minutes later..all of a sudden i see a rock about 20lbs come flying  out of the brush behind me...over me head and slashed down in the creek.
a few seconds later...a 2nd one did the same thing about 40-50 yards down the creek bed to my right.

i stayed motionless.

i watched as 4-6 large animals started shaking small trees and brushs.
you could see the actual "play" unfold..

all of them were about 100yards in the flood plain..in a horse shoe shaped drive.

they were headed  in my direction.

when the tree shaking got about 30 yards from the creek bed..
2 deer SHOT OUT OF THE COVER..
the crossed the creek..and ran up the side i was on...passing to my right...and started to the top of the creek shelf.

once they stumbled..to the top..

after they got to the top they hit the brush behid me..

it wasnt maybe a second or two when i hear 2 loud...foot steps..a heavy exhale...and a powerful hit..

you could actually hear the deer get the air knocked out of it..as it gave a really short bleat. i also heard the sound of a deer legs kicking in the leaves..

a split second later..i heard a snap..that i assume was leg snap of a hind leg to imobalize the animal.

there..was hooping...and ape like sounds from the other side of the creek bed..almost simutaneously with the sounds of the hit and snap.

i never saw..any of the monkees behind me..

3 ways they will hunt..
this was a orchestrated..well drive..and set up.

the deer were pushed up a difficult high walled creek bed..in a manner that wouldnt allow them to pay attention once on the top of the other side.

the monkees behind me..had a perfect view of what was happening and could move along the sides of the creek..just a few feet into cover..
this would allow them to head off..the entire length of the creek.
solo..
group effort..

the last..is to mooch off of a human hunter for any scrap they can get.

I thought that it was an excellent story of what is most likely real behavior.  I myself am guilty of feeding a bigfoot family with the elk guts, bones, legs, ribs, etc. that I naturally did not pack out.  The very next morning, I went by the site of the previous days kill, and it looked exactly like someone had sent in the cleanup crew.  The only thing remaining was two lower front legs.  They most likely scooped the huge pile of guts into the ribcage and carried it all off.  There were no drag marks as would be indicated by blood trails.  It was amazing.  It was a 9 hour drive from the nearest town.  Only two other hunters in the area, and they were not hungry enough to dine on raw elk guts.

Wm..

take it for what its worth..

i've been dealing with these animals from Ok, Tx and La since the mid 80's.

they wont strike a pose..thats for sure.

PS..
one thing i have learned..if you are looking at one that is showing itself..
you'd better be looking around for the others that are probably trying to flank you and you would S*it a brick if you knew exactly how close they can get to you without you knowing it.

at our land we deer hunt on..

monkees will leave "stuff" for you at your tree stand or a spot where you kill a deer at..

after you kill a deer and leave the gut pile.

That would be their trade for the gut pile.  I received a swell rusty old thingamajig off of presumably an ancient piece of logging equipment, although I have not yet identified the equipment as of yet.

yep..
you got it..their trade.

people will think your crazy for believing in a 800-1000lb manape in north america, but they will get you sent to the nut house for telling someone they leave items for trade.

i've had all kinds of handfulls of brightly colored feathers..ranging from bluejays, cardinals and even a couple years ago..the best i can tell most of the feathers from a great blue heron.

any glass object they can find as well as old tin beer cans.

Everbody look sharp.  We have those bff.com people looking over our shoulder.  It seems that since they routinely kick out people who have differing opinions as there own, that they now have to go outside bff.com to find people to make their immature jokes about.  It's called INBREEDING, but they think that it is called research.  But the really sad part is, they do not understand what they are doing to themselves.

WmRoy seems to be a bit of a turncoat.

ohh..

my gut piles are usually gone within 45 minutes of me leaving with the carcass.

no sign of coyotes or other predators.. just like something came in scooped them up and walked off..

you can even see the blood trail sometimes.

i can assure you that there is a helluva lot about these animals that most people dont know..or even try to realize due to a very closed mind.

you can also tell who actually gets into the woods..and out from in front of a computer.

I don't remember posting anywhere that "THIS WASN'T GOOFY"!  So I'm not 'turning' on you........... I was NEVER on your side!!!!!!

I'm not challenging your crazy ideas here (but they are absolutely nutty, there are plenty of varmints and scavangers in the woods you don't need a bigfoot to make a gut pile disappear!).  Just sharing the fun with others!

Keep this stuff coming........... I Love It!!  A good laugh is great with your morning coffee and not near as fattening as a doughnut!!

Have a Great Day! Cheesy :-D  Cool

i'm glad i can provide the entertainment.

trust me when i tell you that i know for a fact that there are other critters in the area that can scavenge..

but.
when whoops..screams..and grunts bellow out of a timberline (less than 30 yards away) when you roll a gut pile out of a deer..

it creates a situation..that is pretty freakin cool..

I've been reading Woodwatcher's post on several boards on and off since 1998 and he has never BS'd anyone about this subject.  He knows wild animals and he knows BF.

I understand the skepticism  but I remember when woodswatcher wouldn't post anything about his personal expeirences with this creature but was still a wealth of info on Southern wildlife and their habits.  I believe (although I could be mistaken as my memory isn't what it once was) that he worked as a wildlife bioligist while he went to college and worked on a bear census in either Ok. or Tx..  I've seen a lot of folks that came to the BF boards and tried to fool everyone but ww never fit in that catagory.  JMHO
