Default Makarov Reloading

Wondering if anyone else reloads 9x18, or if I am a bit of an anomaly.

I would consider it if I could find the ejected brass. Between the small size and how far the pistol kicks he casings I usually can only find about 10% of them.

Probably 98% of my ammo is Norinco steel cased stuff which is berdan primed; so I don't bother with it.

I have everything in place, except the time. I try to buy only brass cased round, but some times can't pass the deals on red army for practice. have found bullets and brass on sale and here before at good prices, just have to keep an eye out. midway had 250 90gr rn bullets on sale one day for $21 a box got a couple, the next day they were $41. found brass and 95gr xtp's from a member here, don't remember what i paid but it was worth it. my primary carry gun is a cz 82.

I reload for it.

After the first time out, made up a screen/catcher which at least contains the brass to an area close by.

Using scrounged range brass, but only one HS since I load for 9mm also, I resize, reform & trim this brass for the 9x18.

Of late, all I use are cast boolits, which I cast myself.

i reloaded my makarov when i had one(traded it)....i shortened a Lee 9mm case trimmer and trimmed 9mm cases to makarov length, expanded the case mouth and loaded some....at that point the bullets were bulging the brass somewhat but they fed and fired and fire formed the brass. After first firing they worked good......Mike

It can be a challenge to find them all. Mine seems to send them out between 15-30 feet. If I can find 95% it is a good day. *laugh*

Accuracy, rather than economics, is my motivation.

I reload for my p83 mak. I first bought star brass, then ,like zoner I found youtube vids on the conversion of 9mm luger. It works very well for me. I also shoot cast and cast my own bullets. I have no issues with any of it. 9mm luger and cast bullets=no lack of ammo
