If you look below my signature line, you'll see I have a bunch of Handis, and have never experienced a problem like this.......but, I don't and won't own a .243. Also, all mine are extractors. I had a 6mm Remington Model 7 that gave me fits years ago and that was the end of 6mms in my life. I'm happy with big, fat, slow bullets. My Handi 7mm-08 seems to be accurate and reliable. One of those might be a viable trade.
Keep both eyes open and make the first shot good.
