I have reloaded since I was a kid. At this point I don't compete or hunt and don't need exotic loads. Now I just have fun. Some time back I started playing with 12ga ball loads--Lee .69-- and Lee 1oz slug. Now I am trying to do a knock off of Winchesters PDX1. Three #00 buck in front of a 1oz slug. The Lee slug is made to fit in a standard wad so it was sort of easy. I used data for 1 1/2oz then reduced the powder from the starting load. It had light recoil and did very well. Next time I will increase the powder 1gr and try again. Also did some with the .69 ball and buck. This is the result. First pic is the Win PDX1:12 Defender. Vol 1150 FPS.

This is at 30', my longest home defense shot. Because I keep the 18" cylinder bore on the 870 at home I test all loads through that.
I would not fire the .69 ball through a full choke.
