Default Question on Saving Faith

What do you believe about yourself and Christ ?
I believe that I'm a sinner.

What do you believe about Christ?
That he was true God and true man and died a death for the sins of the world.

I'm a sinner to the core. Thought word and deed. And He came to die for my sin.

Is anything else required for saving faith?

lc

Why does Doctrine matter? Doctrine connects us to the drama of the story of Christ in history.

The ultimate test of our spirituality is the measure of our amazement at the grace of God.

You have it well encapsulated, although there are some things which could be included, just for the edification.
There is only one way (through Jesus) "there is no other name under heaven whereby you might be saved".

..One man asked Jesus; "what must I do to be saved?"
Now, what you need to do is pray, repent from your sins, promise to try hard refrain from sin and ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. Do it with a humble and sincere heart..

He promised "come to me all who are heavily laden".."he who comes to me I will in no wise cast out" "God is not willing that any should perish".

Not sure it is required but makes Jesus God , not just a dead man.

Matthew 7:21
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter thekingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is inheaven.
John 14: 15
If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
John 15:10
If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and remain in His love.

"As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984, Orwell added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we desire will ruin us.

This book is about the possibility that Huxley, not Orwell, was right.”

C - "Matthew 7:21 -- Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."

I wonder ... specifically what, at least in your mind, is the "will" of the Father that He speaks of?

Christ Jesus said before the Sanhedrin in His statements claiming who He is--If you do not believe I AM who I say I AM--you will die in your sin.
Chist acknowledged that He was more than the Son of God--though that is true, He said He was God in the flesh--eternal, without creation and the Creator of all things.
If you believe in your heart--not in your intellect--that this is truth---Whammo---your a Christian and Christ knows you as His !
Blessings

Thanks for the replies guys. I posted this quickly while at work. Please consider my OP again from the standpoint of the assurance of the believer, what the believer relies on if there is doubt. From that perspective would you change your answer? Is there anything beyond this truth that a believer can rely on?

"If you believe in your heart--not in your intellect--that this is truth---Whammo---your a Christian and Christ knows you as His !"

Sounds as if you believe there's nothing to it but a sincere "belief" that Jesus is the Son of God you're in good shape but maybe there's more to it than that:

James 2:19 (NKJV) - "You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!"

Demons don't just have a core belief, they KNOW who He is but it avails them nothing.
