Apple nerds have looked into this Gene when I asked them to. They say this site has not updated to the new pic format. Site list what is acceptable, but the new format is not in there.
So the drop and post doesn't even try to open. Does everywhere else.
I know nothing about apples other than I like to eat them as a snack. I've seen laptops with an apple on them but someone had already taken a bite from it so I've never checked those closely.
I do however totally agree on folks posting just a link and nothing more. I rarely click them. I think it is appropriate to provide the link but also copy and paste the story for those of us who do not want to or can't click the links. To me posting just a link with no further text or explanation is just a waste of time.
I really haven't tried to post any images that don't already have a URL. As long as ya have the URL it's easy but I have no experience posting without. If we shut down myhostedpics this year tho I guess I'll have to learn how.

GBO has a TEST SECTION at the bottom of the Forums. May I suggest for Windows OS Users to go there and try a the following:
1.) Execute the "Square over Square" function at the top right hand corner of your screen. It's function is to MINIMIZE your active Window. So MINIMIZE your active GBO Window.
2.) Stretch the new "minimized" window to half screen.
C.) Execute "START" and "E" at the same time (see photo below) . This is the shortcut to Windows Explorer ("WE") and a darn good shortcut to remember too!!!
D.) Minimize "WE" to the other half of your screen and right next to the minimized GBO window, so they are side-by-side.
v.) Navigate in "WE" to any reasonable, GBO acceptable photo on your computer. See that area for VALID FILE EXTENSIONS.
vi.) Practice DRAG and DROP from your minimized "WE" window to the receiving frame portion of your minimized GBO window.
It is supposed to be that simple, works EXACTLY that way for me, and how I attached the photo below for this post.
If you look at the valid file extensions the new one Apple uses isn't in there. It used to work but now all three of my Apple devises will no longer post pics. This started happening right after I was sent an update. Apple said its a combination of the site and my devise.
Where it says drag files to attach it doesn't do anything.
