Teacher unions hate her, which means she must be really good. Do you happen to know why she is so feared and hated?

Only because she is a Trump nominee. It's going to be a long four years with ongoing court cases and any kind of obstruction the left can come up with. They already want him impeached and a lot of Rinos are in on that. It's going to be the mid terms that tell the real story.

I think it's mostly her support for charter schools. If people had a choice between charter schools and public schools, a lot of school districts would be forced to compete for students and the associated revenue. Right now, a lot of public school districts have a monopoly on students as well as local, state, and federal funding. Charter schools and school voucher programs represent a pretty big threat to that monopoly.

Some of the criticism is because she has little to no experience with the public school system in the USA. Her interest has been in establishing charter schools in her state of Michigan. She has never run a school system (or any large system). She has never taught in a public school (or any school that I am aware of).

With that and a dollar, maybe she can buy a candy bar.

PS - One wonders if her husband's contributions to the Republican Party had any influence on the choice.

I think her outside the box view of the federal education system may be a good thing because she will almost certainly challenge the " that's the way we've always done it" mentality. I wish that the reporting included more info about the assistant secretaries and similar assistants to these cabinet picks. Often, when someone with little particular experience is selected as an executive, they are surrounded by a very competent team.

Then, maybe she'll bring in a bit of common sense, and a lot less liberalism.

Aim small, miss small!!!
