Default He's doing it !

He's doing it, doing what he promised, that is..

Yes, Pres Trump promised he would help our neglected veterans, and by golly he has done it! Just yesterday he signed a bill allowing veterans who could not get timely care at their local VA facility, to go to any facility where they could get proper care !
It is a joyous relief to see bills signed into law which are GOOD for America and Americans !

Vets have been able to go to a private care giver for over two years or at least in my area we have had that option and I have a card to use if I need to but you have to live more than 40 miles from VA and have to get an OK from your care giver team in order to use that option I do hope that this bill will elimate the having to get permission and even when we needed to use the 40 mile option the VA had doctors in my area that were approved you could not just go to the one of your choosing.

It looks like an extension of the old law... but maybe they have made some changes, we'll see. In my area it is not working very well from what I have been told - don't know from actual experience. Problems have been with paying the Doctors not in the VA, not getting to use them.

In countries with universal health care veterans have always had the same option. Get sick or injured go to the same hospitals as you family and neighbors.

I have used the "over 40 miles" system for 2 surgeries so far. Doctor has to be part of the system and it usually works fairly fast (2-3 wks in this area vet or otherwise to get into a doctor). Also used it for adjustments to my hearing aids. Had to drive 25 miles for that one (live in a small town in Tx.) You do have to call the service first and they set up the appointment(s). So far, so good. If this is extended, I am a happy camper!!

If you live in Phoenix and a number of other places, the 40 mile rule applies..you're apparently still screwed in many cases. From what I heard and I hope it is true, a veteran can go to another provider..if they are not getting timely care, it didn't say anything about having to be 40 miles from a VA facility !
I am also taking a clue from a president who appreciates veterans, rather than one who has no use for them.
