Outsidebear, that's a very sweet looking Colt! Not too unsimilar in appearance from mine. However mine have 1st generation frames, nickel plated, with 2nd generation blued cylinders and barrels. I have a matched pair, each in .38 Special, each with Sambar stag grips.

Like you, single actions are "in my blood" and always will be, I'm certain.

Since this has become show and tell, these are my Colts.

Two seconds and one third, all 45lc. I have a factory set and frame to change any one of them to a birds head but I don't do that very often. And mostly I fire my Uberti clone like the one Guzzijohn posted.
They really are good guns like their Winchester 73 clones are, but those will easily set you back 1k.
Besides its been verified that Colt now uses Uberti receivers anyway, and I've heard the barrels also.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's the whole gun, all Colt does like with the cap and balls, is finish them then sell them for a fortune. There is a big difference in a color case finish and true color case hardening.
And the cowboy action forums say that Ruger is the only American company that still uses the true hardening.
As well as building their own gun. Not even Winchester can say that.

Uberti and Cimarron still do everything the old way they are more of a Colt than a Colt is anymore.

I have been under the impression that Cim. doesnt build anything, that they order up the deluxe Uberti products (Uberti has several grades), ie, 'built' to Cim.'s standards and give them a good once over when they get here. Am I wrong?

You might be right I've heard it both ways with them. But Uberti is pretty much the manufacturer now aside from Ruger. Uberti like Berreta are owned by FNH, or they are the major stock holder.

That is so hard to do, reshaping grips and not screw it up. I've done that on my Uberti and it came out ok.
But nothing like the factory where they sand them to fit before they blue the gun.

Nice you did a good job on that. I have a ball and cap now but any SAA will also use BP.
