Default Pray for 1st MAW

I've got two in the hospital tonight after an Osprey crashed in the water; 3 more were released but they're beat up pretty good. There was another hard landing (no gear) the same day. And we just had the memorial service for our downed F18 pilot just on Sunday. Its been a rough year for Marine aviation all over, but we've had a bad run here locally and morale is affected. Please pray for the family of Capt Jake Frederick, particularly his widow, small boy and another on the way. The service was wonderful, the gospel preached, and Christ's name exalted as his unit came together to grieve. Please pray for the two in the hospital - both stable, but one in critical condition. And pray for leadership, that wisdom and calm would prevail over fear.

There is a protest tonight outside our HQ; the protesters pounce on anything to beat the drum of kicking us off the island, while the Chinese pay them. We've had a few patches of rain and heavy winds - please pray for a miserable cold downpour on the protesters.

may his soul
and the souls of all the faithful, departed,
by the mercy of God,
rest in peace!

"As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984, Orwell added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we desire will ruin us.

This book is about the possibility that Huxley, not Orwell, was right.

Default losing aircrew is never easy

i was on Okinawa for a while at a place that probably doesn't exist any longer; Hamby Army Airfield. we were an aviation unit parented from the 25th inf that billeted at Camp Sukiran and Camp Kue.

we were very close with the Marine Avn at Futema in operations.

during the time i spent there, we lost two H19 that went into the Jacona Basin and a HU 1A that went into a paddy north of Naha.

we lost two and had 3 others injured severely.

i understand your feelings. hopefully there will be no more incidents.

Prayers sent for all concerned. May The Good Lord care for all of the servicemen and women and their families. Take care, John.

It's not what you do, but how you do what you do, that counts.
Just keep on keeping on!
