I want a 450 bushmaster but I'm a lefty if I buy a lefty 223 and a right hand 450 is it as simple as a barrel swap and switch the mags? Thanks in advance!
PM sent. I know a dealer that has both 16" and 22" Factory Left Hand models in stock. These are exclusive to this dealer, that convinced Ruger to chamber the American in 450 Bushmaster.
Got her yesterday and I am pretty happy with it. I knew I would hate the trigger because I hate the "accu trigger" or what ever they call it. I love the weight and length. I was surprised by the lack of recoil. My go to deer rifle is a custom Tikka t3 in 35whelen that scoped and loaded weighs 6.3lbs so maybe I'm used to recoil but I am very pleased with how little it kicks. The stock has some barrel contact on the left side and once I learned how to hold it consistent I shot this group at 100yds
And this group at 200yds
I am looking forward to reloading for it and am hoping I can dial it in with 270gn Barnes using h110 I use these components in other guns and would love it to work for this. I haven't figured out what scope will go on it yet but the VX3 2.5-8 is fine for now for load development.
Overall I am pretty happy with this setup and looking forward to toting it in the Adirondack mountains this fall.
These are utilitarian rifles at best. I also don't care for the "Ruger Marksman Adjustable™ trigger", or the "AccuTrigger". It is adjustable for pull weight, but the lighter I went, it just added in more creep.
Sure beats a slug gun in Michigan's Limited Rifle (Old Shotgun) Zone, though. Both in consistent accuracy, and price per round (half the price) of factory ammo.
I'm not a fan of brakes, but mine does shoot consistently more accurate (tighter groups) with the brake. I just have a little more work to do, to figure out how it wants to shoot with the brake removed. It is a real pussycat, recoil wise, with the brake installed.
Thanks for posting the pics. Good luck with it this fall.
