Nice collection you have there.  How do ya like the synthetic stocks on the Trackers.  I also see you had em D &T'd for the scope rails.  Was that spendy.

Stimpy, I like the synthetic cause I'm out in any kind of weather. During the MN season in 2000 I deer hunted in the rain for 4 days. Though I might add a Hornet or 5.56 and then I'd possibly elect to go wood as it would be a paper plinker. And yes I looked at your "painted ladies" in a pic you posted when I was just a lurker here.

Cookieman, Those synthetic stocks are great for midwest weather and are not as "slippery" as the shiny pallet wood. I really like the Tracker with a scope and so does my son. We paid H&R for the rails and then it cost us $15 for our smith (a retired guy) to drill and tap each, and he even put the rails on for us. I had four done and a relative had two done. Now my son, son-in-law, and daughter all hunt with scoped Tracker II's.

The Topper has a synthetic butt stock and black painted wooden forend that came from Numrich. The forend fits the older slimline barrels they used at that period.

I couldn't believe it!!  I saw your SU16 there and remembered my visit to the range this saturday.  Just some guy.  A beginner.  He shot a few rounds and talked with his couch/instructor companion.  As well did I..  It's good to spot those guys at the range.  Good brains to pick.  Anyway, we were talking a little when he realized this student was holding a busted SU16.  The frame literally fractured in a horse shoe shape behind the action and kinda held on by a thread by its hinge.  Uneal.  We were all stupified not to mention a little jumpy.  This dude had loaded more than the allowed "1 round at a time" and was basically fumbling over a loaded and unpredictible firearm.  It was a second hand purchase I heard but seriously.   What a cool gun and what a let down.  IT BROKE IN HALF!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Are you sure? Or are you just jerking my bobber? The Kel-Tec SU 16 is made to fold in half (by removing pin)right where you indicated that it fell apart.
Anyway, you did get my attention Grin

I know it breaks.  Cool feature.  I really like the bipod model too.  I wonder how sturdy it feels?  I think the SU16 is one of the fiercest little rifles you can find.  I think about buying one frequently.  Still, this fracture  was not normal.  I didn't look as closely as I wanted to but this dude was outa luck. Undecided Hanging by a thread.

carbineman,

How do you like the Saigas? I'm having a hard time not buying one at my local shop. He has the .223 and 7.62 x 39 for $249. each. Don't know if that is a good price or about normal, but have really been wanting to try one.

The Saigas are somewhat crude, (thats the AK though) simply made, and go bang everytime you pull the trigger even with crappy ammo. They have a chrome bore and chamber and have a decent sighting system for an AK. The magazines are well made and virtually indestructable. I paid $159 for one and close to $300 for another. (I waited too long to get the second one)

I think $249 is a good price, as the Saiga is only going to get more expensive, just like everything else.
