223 likes new Bi Pod

I got a Rock Mount bi pod for a late Christmas present.

Put it on my 223 hb with choate varmint fore end and took it out Saturday afternoon.
It shoots almost as good as off sand bags with no POA change.
Didn't even seem to matter weather I mounted it forward or back.

I couldn't be happier.

Cool.  Glad it works on yours as well.  I us a bipod on mine standard .308 Handi and it does not affect accuracy.  This really pleased me as I hate sandbags.

I don't mind shooting off of my sand bags so much as carrying them.

My wife sewed me up an over sized front bag with a notch for my rifles.
It's quite heavy.
I really think the biggest difference in accuracy is the lack of a rear rest.

I use a small bag under the buttstock with my bipod,and its even more solid than with the bags. If I really pound the buttstock down in the rear bag,I can keep the movement of the crosshairs around .010" on 32 pr. And thats where I get my best shooting done. Digger

My 223 shoots good using bi pods as well.It has the standard synthetic fore end.I'm buying a bull barrel 223 and will swap out the wood stocks and put the synthetics on it.Was looking at the varmint fore end like you have,sounds like a good setup.I think you just helped me decide.

Allot of Handi's cannot be shot from a bipod because they do not lock-up correctly. They may seem tight but they are not stiff enough to prevent the action 'springing' and causing vertical stringing and worse. I am glad you got a good one 'out-of-the-box.

my 223 ultra varmint and 22 hornet both shoot great from my harris bipods, good enough to reach a groundhog out to 400 yards.
