When did Dan Wesson go to the recessed barrel nut???   I have an old barrel wrench for the exposed 12 point "star" style barrel nut and want to know approx when they stopped making this.
Thanx

I think that the guns with exposed barrel nuts were called Model 12's. I bought my first Dan Wesson around 1978 (a model 15 357 mag) and it had the recessed nut - so the change took place before that - I want to say around 1973-74.
