I recently traded for a 15-2, nice finish, extra barrel, custom case.  Man I was excited.  After shooting only 25 rds of light .38 loads, when I ejected the cases, the cylinder went all the way to the end of the ejector rod.
The little nub that stops the cylinder had broken off, and a second break occurred just below the trigger.
I had taken the plate off just after I got the gun to see if it needed oil, there was fresh oil present.  Did I or the previous owner cause the break?  Does this happen very often?
Does anyone have a spare side plate they'd be willing to sell?

Thanks Greg.
Yeah, I was just trying to save some money.  Genny and Kieth told me that their part has to be fitted.
Grant Cunningham told me that he'd never seen a broken side plate on a DW.

I have never seen one broken either, and back when I was still shooting silhouette I never saw a broken one, and you know those .445 supermags kick a little.

Mine is an older one and the part fell out. Mine is stainless and the part they had was blued, so I have a blued piece on it. But I will send it back to the factory for a new side piece when I get back from Iraq.

I have a Monson 15-2 and had the little dimple come out of the sideplate. I was told the newer guns have a one piece sideplate so that won't happen. I found a used one and had a gunsmith fit it for me. No further problems. jwk

Laremm, be safe and thanks for your service.
jwk, I've been looking for a used one, I guess I'll have to order one from CZ.  The gun still shoots just fine.
