I'm in for a couple of sets - Blue Steel and stainless.  $70.00 is fine.

There was some guy who joined up here a good while back and made noises about wanting to know the level of interest in them as if he might either make them or contract to make them thru some other vendor. He wanted to solicit for business here without becoming an advertiser and I cut him short on it. I told him he should be able to get all the info he needed on the potential market from this thread and that since Talley is a paying sponsor and he wasn't that he couldn't solicit to see what the market was. I think he disappeared but am not really sure who he was or if he still is around. I suppose that could be what these new ones are but in a way I kinda doubt it. They probably just some from Moyer's perhaps reworked a bit by someone.

I didn't go anywhere Greybeard I'm still here. Still have the parts in the process too. Waiting one last bid to have made.

I don't see any info about this on Tally's site yet.
I just ordered a BC, so I'm hoping for brass to become a possibility.

Why not plate the steel to make them look like brass?

I think that $70 dollars is too high. I voted no because I don't see it as a big deal and certainly not worth that kind of money. I would much rather invest my money buying primers. If the price was $30-$40 then I might go for it.

Hi all, I just registered as a new forum member. Feels like I know many of you from reading prior posts. By the way, I just ordered a metal trigger guard from H&R1871 for my HandiRifle. I spoke to "Ann" from the parts department on their toll free line. She seemed surprised when she found it carried as an in stock item. Price was forty something. I also ordered a forearm stock spacer, but she couldn't tell me what it was made of. They only wanted $2.50 for it. For that price, I'll probably end up with a spare plastic spacer, but who knows...maybe it will be metal after all! Anyway, I just wanted to report it in case it wasn't common knowledge.

Welcome! Good luck with getting the metal trigger guard from them, H&R hasn't had any metal parts in stock for a looong time, Gardner sold the last of them a few years ago, I got the last of the defective ones which were all that was left when Gardner closed last fall, they may show them in stock, but I doubt they actually have them unless they found some during the move which is always possible, they've found other obsolete parts in the past like the mannlicher forends and Ultracomp barrels.

I just talked with Gary at Talley, they have the spacers all set to produce and they should have a production schedule for both parts in a week, they've had problems getting the spring pocket angles perfected on the trigger guard, he just bought a new 243 Handi as a test mule to work out the final issues, I'll give him a call next week for an update.

Thanks for the welcome quickdtoo! I received a package from Remington Arms company with my mail delivery this afternoon. I found a steel trigger guard enlosed...and it fits my H&R BC rifle perfectly! The part number for ir on the invoice is "FR02513, Bin 6179". Price minus S&H was $41.15. Unfortunately, the forend stock spacer turned out to be plastic...but I figured it would be for $2.50 anyway. I can't get my scanner to work, or I would post a photo of it for you. But in my opinion, it looks and fits great! Hope the info was of help.

Congrats, no need to post a photo for me, I've got over a dozen of the steel H&R sets, I put a set on my 6.5x55 as soon as I got it back from Oregunsmithing, hopefully Gary will get theirs ready soon, I believe the first run will be blued aluminum, but I've not positive of that.  Wink

Thanks, Hibernian.  Ordered a metal trigger guard for my Target Rifle this morning.  Just like they were with you, the agent I talked to was shocked that they were in stock.

Just talked to Gary again, they're in the final setup stage on the trigger guard before production can start, the spacer is already to go into production, first products will be aluminum alloy with a matte hardened finish, he wouldn't give me a firm commitment when they'll be available tho.

I got a note from the guy who cast bronze spacers and other parts. Here is what he said.

Quote
Hi,
I have Closed up my shop for the winter because there is no heat in it. I plan on casting more Spacers and Trigger guards in the spring when I reopen it. I have also cast trigger guards in bronze for the Marlin 60 and a couple Grip Frames for the Ruger Black-hawk.
I do have TWO more Forend Spacers for the handi I plan to put up for auction soon.

Thanks for the inquiry.
John.

What I meant but did not say correctly is if you ever owned a Moyers (I did) it is worth the wait for what ever is down the pike!

Thanks Tim this is just in time. there was someone over on the leverguns forum asking "what if" you could make a Handi a premium gun by putting good wood and metal on it.

I just talked to Gary at Talley, due to the economic situation and having to lay off employees, the production of the H&R parts is on hold until things improve.  Cry
