last fall i used a new huntsman 50 cal to get my deer. I was successful but the gun did misfire several times. I thought with fresh 209 primers and fresh pellets I would be in good shape. the problem seems to be plugging of the breech hole. once fired it is ok on the next shot, but left overnight it would be clogged. It even misfired after i shot a primer through the empty gun and then reloaded. do I need a different breech plug? anybody have any thoughts? ab

I've never had a problem with mine, but I'm a flinter too and it is second nature for me to keep it clean. The 209s are dirty, but that's what I use with two 50 gr. 777 pellets.

You did not mention what type pellets and their age you were using. Pellets are usually more difficult to ignite than loose powder. Also, some powders are more difficult to ignite. And, some powders age rapidly and become more difficult to ignite as they age.
My ancient Huntsman has never misfired over the years, but I use only loose, fresh T7 or Pyrodex.

Do you know what is plugging the hole is it from the primer,or pellets ? I don't use pellets anymore but I seem to remember that one side of the pellet is hotter than the other . What pellets are you using? I know the T7 comes with a pipe cleaner you put in the hole then drop down the bbl. Are you using the ones that come with the stick on the bullet deal? I have never had a misfire in any of mine so I'm probly not much help but I am meticulus clean and dry. Kurt

I only use 3F GOEX blackpowder. I never have a misfire.

A nipple pick ,or a set of torch tip cleaners work for cleaning or even a small enough drill bit. Kurt
