Need some help. Got a colt police positive special 38 s&w. Mfg@Colts PT.F.A.MFG.CO.Hartford CONN.U.S.A. The backstrap has RHKP 9201 stamped into it. The importer was CAL ST. ALB VT. Was this exported for a foreign police department, or as a military side arm between world wars? I'm really curios if only this pistol could tell a story what a story it would tell!!!!!

RHKP stands for Royal Hong Kong Police.  9201 is the "rack" or issue number.  The RHKP bought both Colt and S&W revolvers for their police department.  Most were acquired by the RHKP after WW2.  There's a problem with your description though.  Either you have a Police Positive Special in .38 Special caliber, or a Police Positive in .38 S&W caliber.  Police Positives weren't chambered in .38 Special because the cylinders were too short.  Colt lengthened the frames (and cylinders) to accommodate the longer .38 Special cartridge and the resulting new gun was called the Police Positive Special.  .38 Special cartridges can NOT be inserted into PP revolvers chambered for the shorter and fatter .38 S&W cartridge (and vice-versa).

Most of the S&W RHKP revolvers had lanyard swivels.  Not so sure about the Colts in that regard.

The importer was Century Arms International back when they were located in St. Albans, Vermont.

You can find what year your Colt was manufactured by clicking on the link below and looking up your serial number under the "Police Positive .38" or "Police Positive Special" section, once you have accurately identified which model you have.  The serial number is the 6-digit number stamped inside the crane/yoke.
