May have to head to Ilion for some dumpster diving. I would assume that they would keep some for future tests and offer some to employees, but 130 barrels is a lot given that a production run is only a few times that. Maybe they will sell em to SARCO or Numrich. If you look at ads in Shotgun News, those vendors get that kind of product from various manufacturers.

Be nice to offer them up to GBO, considering how that number is close to the positive responses in this thread.

You think we ought to mail in some ammo so that they can finish the testing?

Testing has finished and it has been approved, there will be some guns made later this year, but not a lot due to the large amount of orders already placed for other chamberings, those to be made this year will have 22" barrels, no accessory barrels are planned this year, although they may offer them as replacements for out of stock barrels. Those scheduled for production next year may have longer barrels, I've posted a separate poll for that, please reply to that poll.

I would rather have a factory fitted barrel in 9.3x74R.  9.3 cal has a much better selection of heavy bullets for big game and I can paper patch .358 cast bullets.

I like 9.3's myself, I have 3 of them. The 9.3 will never happen,it's to bizarre for the American populace, and ammo is pricey to boot, especially the 9.3x74R.

It has been about six months since last mention.   Did anything ever happen
regarding decision to produce the 35 Whelan ?   I see some discussion
about the Marlin 338 express and I hope they didnt dump the
Whelan idea to pursue that.   But the fact that the Marlin Express is
rimmed ( I think? ) that might be  a big factor.

H&R produced 200 more Whelens a couple months ago for sale at a couple dealers in Mississippi, they sold all of them in a short time, the 22" Whelen will be available in 2010 in both wood and syn stock.
