I have a curious question .. Dont think it will be a problem but always best to ask , Will using cast bullet reloads in the Sig 229 40 be a problem ?

This is my first Sig , So i dont have the normal experience under my belt , But my guess is it should be ok.

  Let me know guys ..

I have shot a few in both my Sig and in a 10mm Delta Elite, they work well but fowl the barrel.  I prefer to shoot something a little cleaner, cost a few dollars more to reload, but I din't have to clean as often.

I've had a P229 since 2001, two barrels, a .40 S&W and .357 Sig, and have shot very little jacketed ammo in it. Thousands of cast. There was some leading to begin with but a firelap job with some of Veral Smith's firelap compound smoothed them up to the point that leading is minimal and usually comes out with nothing but a tight patch saturated in bore cleaner.

Just lately bought a .22 LR conversion kit for it. That's a whole 'nother fun story...........

You could try Precision Bullets moly coated. They do not seem to lead my barrel up in either .40 S&W or 10mm. They don't cost a whole lot more than cast (Unless you are casting your own), and are cheaper than plated or jacketed. They also have free shipping. The price you see is the price you pay.

And yeah, for about $150 you can get the 357 SIG barrel and shoot two calibers from your P229.
