Revolver Nipples.

First thing that comes to mind is why would you want too. The worst things that happen to me are caps blown back and jamming the gun. You are going to have to have a strong hammer spring to keep recoil type pressure from blowing cap backwards.
I have some 5 year old ROAs and some new ones. All my nipples are fine, because I don't pick them and I clean the fired gel off after each use with a tooth brush. I dry my cylinders with compressed air and as a final, i always blow well through the nipples and check them to the light. No troubles.
Now on my remingtons, I spent the money and outfitted them with Uncle Mikes nipples. I undersatand they are not available any more, but I have heard the Treso nipples are just as good. With a decent quality nipple you should have no problems. :grin: That is kind of an oxymoron. C&Bs and no problems, yeah right, but you can minimize the problems.

I just got a new "58" Remington by Uberti, in 36 caliber.  I checked the nipples and they are the same as Uberti uses in the Colt models. (And the 2nd and 3rd gen Colts).  The thread is #12-28, the same as Ruger, and the ROA nipples will fit.  They are about .015 short, and need a small shim washer, .015 thick, .216 ID and .31 to .36 OD.  (.313 is 5/16 dia, so could part off of brass stock on a lathe after drilling the #12 clearance hole.)  Or turn 3/8 down a bit til it fits in the nipple well.  If you want good stainless nipples, Ruger, or aftermarket Ruger is a source.  Of course, you'll need a Ruger nipple wrench.  (3/16 nut driver).  Check your cylinder, however, as I have an older Uberti 44 that has much different threads.

Marsh- to answer yer orig. ??--NO.  You want the hole as small as possible so the pressure is out the front not  out the back.  Howdy said it.  Treso nipples are the best thing going.  On a different BB I stated that my new 51 Navies cqme with nipples that were too short, too small.  Got Treso nipples for the new Uberti's and now they work every time.  :grin:

Pietta nipples are metric, but when Uberti made the 2nd generation Colts they changed to #12-28 (M5.5x0.9).  This is not what the original Colts were, which was .219-32.  However, Uberti changed all their Colt types, and apparently the Remington (at least the 36) to that thread, and as I said, that's the same as Ruger.

Stumbled across this thread and reminded me of my own C&B revolver. It is a Armi Sao Paulo copy of the Colt 1851 Navy in .36 cal. I haven't shot it much, but was wondering if anyone knew what thread these nipples are and when can I order replacements?

Pull one and measure the diameter of the thread, and post it.  I can determine it from that.
