The 405W is loaded to the max, in the 28" barrel, 300gr jacketed at 2500fps.  Wink

24 for me, seems like a good compromise, longer than a 22 and the total length is noticeably less than a bolt gun.

I get 225 Sierras going 2600fps with RE15 out of a 24 inch Addams and Bennett Savage, If I wanted more, I would add more powder.  I dont particularly think the 26" is needed to make the 35 Whelen and effective powerhouse.  Either way, Im glad to see Rem take a responsible approach to reintroducing this round to the HR.  Hopefully, being the name on both the gun, most brass, and much of the factory ammo will help bring everything together successfully.

I voted 22 inch.  I don't believe that much is gained going to 26, and at 26, a Handi, to me, ceases to be Handy.
Pete

You hit the nail on the head there Pete!!
A lot of you long barrels guys say you can always cut a 26" barrel down to a shorter length...
That's just another added $$$ expense $$$$ to make the rifle HANDI again...
Just how much does your gunsmith charge to cut, crown, drill and tap or dove tail for a front site?
I am betting mine (only one around within 100 miles) would charge minimum $125.00..

Having said that why can't Remington offer more than one barrel length?... Shocked
Then everyone would be happy... Grin

Either way I'll be getting a Handi in a .35 Whelen...

The latest update is good news/bad news,  the 35 Whelen will be a 2010 offering, but likely only a 22" barrel, they're stuck on the short barrel, I'm hoping for a 26" accessory barrel as well as the 22", but that remains to be seen.   Undecided

I like the 22" as it doesn't give up much in velocity, but the longer barrel might just save my shoulder from giving up the ghost.  Grin So any length sounds good to me.

... Undecided I agree.
I guess I am choosey sometimes, but the longer tube was the main reason I would pick up one.

Any other news on new cals being offered next year Tim?
