Hi again, I just wanted to show my rescue attempt on the field piece: before and after picures Grin




i found the oldie picture and thought you folks would want to see why i worked on this piece....the FIL just let her sit out in the weather for years on this metal contraption carriage~ Cry

The old one reminds me of the stuff Dixie Gun Works sold back in the 70's

most likely your tube was made by Hern Iron works, which means it does have a steel liner,

it is recommended that you bush the touch hole as water can get between the liner and the casting causing rust,

most drill and tap the hole and use a stainless steel bolt, once installed cut it off flush and you should have no

further worries in that department.

Nothing wrong with the old one that slapping on a little purple or red or pink or yellow paint wouldn't cure!!!

I like them both, but...the second one is for sure an improvement! Good Job! I have seen wheels like those on a 1/2 scale Parrott recently, cleaned up and painted looks real good, actually!
