im going black bear hunting end nov i have a 15 in. encore 44mag
ok the ? is what bullet to use i have
1. 225gr lever with the red point hornady
2. 240 jsp winchester
3. 300 xtp hornady
i never went for bear and this is my only bigbore
i have a 15. 209x50 with the folling bullets i can use
270gr buffalo
320 t/c maxi
240 xtp black sabot t/c
the problem with the 209x50 is i can only handle 70gr t7 ffg loose i had shoulder injury the snap with anything over 70gr makes my hand numb  if just a small amount more of powder would work better than the 44 i would take the abuse for that one shot any info would be a great help
                                  thanks  b44mag

I would use 44 Mag. with the 240 gr. Win. JSP or the 300 gr. Hornady XTP bullets with the nod going to the Hornadys.

The one you have the most confidance in hitting the bear.
The 44 is made for balck bear.  The 15" barrel is going to give you rifle velocity.
any and all will work well.
Good luck on your hunt.

Hey check out foggy mountain guide service. The guy has an article on handgun hunting black bear. He swears by JSP standard velocity bullets.
