Thanks for posting that link to the FTX relodaing data.  I find the loading data for the 300gr 500rd a little shocking.  It states max load of 49 gr.  I was using 45 and I thought I was getting close to the max, but 4 additional grains seems rediculously high.  The loading for the 275 gr barnes bullets is only 45.x grains max.  Also, the data said to use with large pistol primers.  I was under the impression all 500 brass is now to use large rifle primers.  I wonder if that was a misprint.

Thanks for sharing your hunts, slu.

I emailed Hornady - here is the reply:

This is a typo, the data is for the large rifle primers.

All of that old large pistol brass should be making its way out of circulation pretty soon, that stuff is starting to get some age on it.  Anyone who has it ought to either convert it or throw it away to speed up the process of getting rid of it.

I have seen complaints before about Hornady publishing data with errors.  Seems like they need a good editor.  Personally, I have not had any problem with their data to date, but I have only loaded 338-06 from their data.  I usually just use Hodgdon data center data.
