I have been considering getting into casting bullets for my .45 - 70 Handi for deer hunting in Minnesota.  Typical range less than 100 yards.  What make and model bullet mold (Lee/Lymann) would lend itself well for brushy less than 100 yard shots for deer?
Thanx

I've got one of those (405 gr.h.b.) and am well satisfied with it.

another super duper accurate bullet in that caliber is the lyman 457124?.....it is a 385 grain round nosed cast lead bullet and i would describe it as spectacularly accurate in my handi rifle at about 1385 ft/second.

Man, there are so many choises for this wonderful caliber!  Lyman still makes several good ones.  Their 457122, 125, 124, or 462560.  Try 'em, you may discover a whole new aspect of our pastime.  I doubt my Handi will ever get a jacketed bullet, cast just works to well for me.

I have this Saeco mould that throws a 350 gr. bullet that is accurate to a fault out of my Buffalo Classic.

I use the 405 Lee. I shot a hundred of them today and they are very accurate at 100 yards. It's a plain based bullet and in my Handi (They're all different) they don't like to be pushed too hard. I think I've settled on 36.2 grains of 4198

I also shoot the Ranch Dog 350 grain although my Guide gun likes them better than the Handi.
