It doesn't seem to matter what info I put in to try to find a past posting, the search engine won't find it. Wonder what I'm doing wrong. Has anyone else gotten results with that feature? When I use similar search features on other boards, they find what I want.

It doesn't work for me either. Here's a trick. Go to Google and type "site:http://www.go2gbo.com/forums" then a space, then whatever you want to search for. It'll search the forums for you, and will probably be much more accurate than the forums' search ever was...come to think about it...I found this forum that way!

Here's a trick. Thanks that did work to a certain extent, but did not find what I wanted, for unknown reasons. I'm just trying to find the post from this past weekend where someone asked me what my favorite cannon was and I told them about the Duch piece made by Overney in 1681, same as ones still at "Nienoord" the Dutch National Carriage Museum. I also looked for that discussion manually and could not find it-maybe killed for some reason?

Precisely, it's here. But I, too, have problems with the search feature. Sometimes it is totally useless.

As for me, the search feature works every once in a while, but most of the time I don't have any success in finding what I'm looking for.

I am going to move this to the proper place on GBO where your concerns may be better seen and addressed.

I use the search feature a lot, here are some tips that may help that I use that usually work, depending on what I'm looking for.
Tim
1. Check the Search in topic subjects only box.
2. Uncheck Check all then click Choose a board to search in, or search all
3. Select a limited number of forums from the list where you'd expect your search topic to be covered best.
4. Change the message age to 0 to 1000 days or less to search for recent topics only, otherwise you'll likely only get old hits.
5. Add a user name to the by user: field in place of the * if you know a topic was covered by a certain member.
