I just bought a 308 from Dicks in the synthetic camo stock...out the door at 267.00 with scope in Easton, Pa.  I did some reading just now and I see that the break lever should not have any play when the action is open?  I cannot tell the difference when the barrel is open or closed.  It "wiggles" when closed an open.  What does this mean?  Is it going to be a serious issue?  Thanks in advance guys.  I really love the feel of the gun and the camo stock is nice as well.  I am anxious to get to the range...hoping I don't have a "dud"

Yes that is where I read that the release should have little to no movement with the break open.  I am just not sure what it means if there is some wiggle when open.

When the action is closed there should be some movement up and down, the lever should not be completely to the top of it's travel.  With the action open the lever should be near or at the top of it's travel, yours is probably acting properly.  Larry

If you are only talking about somewhere between 1/16" to less than 1/8", then it is normal for side to side play.

Not so much of a side to side, but more of up/down...The more I look at it the more I can tell that there is definitly more "play" with the action closed.  I will take it out tomorrow and see how it fires.  Any ideas on what factories it may like.  I checked the FAQ's and I don't see anything on the 308.

My .308, unfortunately, isn't a Handi, but a Ruger.  It likes 168 gr. boat tails such as Winchester Supremes.  Very accurate at long range.  I'll have to correct that fault in the near future and get a .308 Handi Grin Grin

Mine shoots well with 150 grain Core Lokt, but I look for hunting accuracy and not tiny groups. Mine is wood stock and I really like it. Just went and checked and it doesn't have any play when open, but would should yours and see how it does. Probably not a problem.
