I have a Super 14 Contender Barrel in 35 Rem. This Barrel is Parkerized ( I believe ) and Ported. My question is did this come from the factory like this? I don't know if it was a factory thing to parkerize. I might be selling this barrel and really want to know exactly what I have before I list it. Thanks for your help. Steve

That looks more like a paint job to me than parkerizing.

Hard to tell from the pics but it can be matte blued or parkerized. Both finishes start with a bead blasted surface and the finished colors are quite simliar and park can vary in shades. You can test it by applying a drop of vinegar to a hidden area and letting it sit for 10 minutes. If it removes the finish it is blued. Regardless of what the finish is, it has been refinished, maybe to repair a pitted rust issue or just for a non-glare finish when the Magnaporting was done.

Some type of finish has been applied and it's not a T/C finish.  I don't think it's Parkerized but instead some other type of finish.

After looking at the blown up pics the scratch pattern near the muzzle looks more like Parkerizing. It's a built up finish and wears through gradually so some scratches can be shallower than others. Same finish on M16 barrels, I refinish firearms with it.
