Folks, we have been on the current servers now for 3 years and as many of you may have noticed they are starting to slow down a bit and we are starting to get more and more crashes. As many of you may know we have 2 servers that we run in a mirrored configuration. Well we are looking add another server to our rack. This server will be dedicated to Go2GBO.com and GraybeardOutdoors.com as we had wanted back three years ago. This will be a costly upgrade and we look to spend around $2500 for the server, setup and hosting. We can not make this purchase on our own as we just do not have the funding after just paying the hosting fees on our current servers which is $822 each per year.
We are going to start collecting for our New Server fund and see how close we can get to the target amount. If you enjoy this site and have found it useful then we are asking you to donate using the paypal button at the bottom of any page or use the " Paid Subscriptions" link in your profile. As always donations are not required to use GBO or any feature of GBO but all are appreciated.

Ummm, I dont like that paypal. Don't even have a credit card anymore but do have a debit card from my bank.
Still, I prefer to send money orders or for Bill & Matt, even cash. What are my options?
I do have a valid address from when we tried to buy someone an AR last Dec. Can this work?

All you have to do is click the orange button at the bottom of any GBO page that says PayPal Donate.
If you have a Pay Pal account then log in and if not then beside the credit card logos there is a link that says continue... click it
Thanks to those who have donated so far... I have all but 2 members accounts upgraded to GBO Supporter but those 2 have different email addresses than what is on file here at GBO. If you use a different email address for PayPal please use the comment box and add your GBO member name as this will help me in getting you moved to the GBO Supporter group faster.

I donated by paypal. As I have said before, it is hard as heck to find your address, when if you would lock a stickey under the Greybeard info thread with this address and the other pertinent ones such as Matt and donate to GBO outdoors (check vs paypal) for those that don't wan't to use paypal it sure would make it easier to find the address, rather than having to look for addresses in the middle of a thread some where. I got an e-mail from pay pal saying I had money. I have absolutely no clue what to do about it. I can't get it or return it. I did forward the e-mail to Matt to see if he could fix it some how. I have no pay pal account and would have no idea how to set one up. About the only thing I know about pay pal is that on a regular basis it some how magically removes money from my business checking account to pay Matt's bills even tho I've told both him and my bank to cease and desist.  |

I normally hang out a tad before I plan to stay and can honestly say that this place is great!!! is it feasible/possible to send out mass PM to ask for at least a few bucks donation for each member? As a rule we don't send out mass mailings to our membership. Generally speaking such mass mailings are unwanted and unappreciated by the membership. Doing so gets us in trouble with the various ISPs and most of the time if you do such things many of them will black list you not allowing any e-mails from you to be sent to folks using those ISPs.
Since most have it set to get an e-mail when they receive a new PM the effect would basically be the same if done via PM.
Marlin Owner's who we host does do such mass mailings and their URL is on most every ISPs black list much of the time as a result. It even spilled over to us once even tho we only host them on our server.
