1847 C/W problems

I recently purchased an Uberti 1847 Colt/Walker. First  time to the range with it I discovered that after firing the  loading arm would spring lose.
Is this an inherant problem of the 1847, or do I have a defective retaining spring?

I believe it's inherent with the design.  Try downloading some, as some have suggested to others with the same problem.  The First Model Dragoon is supposedly the improved version of the Walker and was made with a loading lever latch.

Singing Bear has it.  The Walker problem is the reason the latch was moved to the front of the Dragoon and all subsequent revolvers.  The very light recoil of the Patterson, when equipped with a loading lever did not expose the problem of the rear mounted latch, but the heavy recoil of the Walker did.  Some people snap a rubber band around the barrel and lever while shooting to keep it from dropping.
