I have had one for about six months now and love it. It will shoot the cheap mega-pack 22LR, unlike most of my 22 conversion kits. It shoots great and is pretty accurate. Everytime I go to shot it comes along with me and I shoot 100-200 rounds through it. You do have to keep it clean or it will start to jam. I have found that it's good till around 1200 rounds then it starts to act up and needs a good cleaning. The other problem I had with it was they only give you one magazine and to buy them they are expensive for what they are.  But overall I wouldn't give it up.

I have had one since day one, I am well pleased with it, but have not put very much ammo thru it yet.  It seems to be in line with other SIG products.......quality!

I have one and like it quite well. I bought it as a simulator for my Sig 229; the ammo is obviously dirt cheap and it's no trick to blast through 250 - 300 rounds in a plinking session. A couple of observations:

1). I get occasional jams with whatever .22 ammo that I tried (5 different brands/styles). They are only occasional however; it's not bothersome.
2). Unlike the 229, it has a safety. If you have the safety on, the pistol still operates; it just doesn't go bang.
3). It's about 3/4 the size of a 229.
4). It handles like a 229, not like a target .22. If you want a target .22, get a Ruger MKIII or a S&W 41.
5). Given that it handles like a carry gun, it's a bit easier to shoot accurately than it's bigger brothers.

All in all, I'm very happy with mine, and would encourage you to buy one. It's a great way to practice without spending an arm and a leg on ammo. But bear in mind that it's a practice carry gun, not a target pistol.

A buddy of mine has one. It look's neat and feels great to hold it, mag's are nice, overall it seems very nice. However, there are only 2 brands of ammo this thing will shoot! It jams like crazzy with most other's. The ones it likes are Rem. HV, (I forget what they are called but they have that squared off taperd tip) and of all thing's, that SSS subsonic ammo with 60 gr. heads. It comes with 2 recoil springs and 3 sight's, (front) although you can only use the highest one because the other two are to low to see! If it's a "tactical" .22 you want, it's great, when it works. But if it's a good shooting accurate target gun you want, there are much better guns out there for the money.
PS, Yes, this one was sent back to Sig and was sent back with a letter saying it's just fine. 1st. clip he put in it jammed 5 out of 10 round's.

Just to do a follow up, I have a Sig mosquito and yes the ammo it likes is limited and jams on all others. I have found that my Sig loves CCI hv 40gr mini mags. I shoot around 300-500 rnds through it when I shoot and maybe get 1-2 jams. It also shoots Rem 22 target (40gr)standard velocity very well too. I have to say that I love this pistol and it'll stay with my collection for a long time to come. The only downfall, besides being picky about what ammo it likes, is what has already been mentioned; the extra mags are a bit expensive....I paid $80 for 2 new ones at the local shop

They get mixed reviews. Interesting that the mosquito only has a one year warranty and sigs other firearms have a lifetime warranty.

They have a couple of these for sale at the local shooting range with suppressors on them.  I'm betting they would be great for getting rid of annoying squirrels and woodchucks in the back yard without bothering my pesky liberal neighbors.  So far, the best I can do is use my Gamo pellet rifle.  That works OK, but plinking off the back porch with a suppressed mosquito would be much more fun!

The guys at the range suggested going with a suppressed .45 instead.  Much quieter and a lot more punch with subsonic ammo compared to the crack from the high test .22 stuff or lack of power with subsonic .22s.

If you want a quiet gun get one of those crossman CO2 pellet pistols.  Those have some punch, are quiet and there's some new yellow looking pellets that's supposed to make them even faster.  Sure a silencer would be fun, but it isn't worth all the legal hassle.

Pick up the 1st one I ever saw at a gun show 3 weeks ago. Loved the size and feel and bought it. Then read a couple other forums and was a little worried. They were old posts so I was hopeful the Mosquito had been improved. WOW!  In 3 range trips I have shot almost 600 rounds of several different  brands. Very accurate even with a long creepy trigger. No problems with any ammo except 4 out of 10 stingers failed to eject. I am not disappointed and highly recommend it for plinking. My wife loved and it will be the perfect starter for my Grandson.

v-man, congrats on your purchase. I still have my Mosquito and don't think I'll ever part with it.....It's just way too much fun to shoot and just like you said, I love how it feels.

I have a sig mosquito and I have had it for about a year. Given the chance I would buy something else next time. The slide is made of a Zinc alloy instead of steel and the frame is polymer. It has probably the WORST trigger pull of any handgun I've ever shot. But, for my purposes being able to use the indoor range to practice on it works well enough. I was lucky, I got one that does not have the horrific jamming problems I've heard so much about. I think the pistol is overpriced for what it is. Just my 2 cents.

LarryL: I don't quite understand the 'lack of power' statement with the sub-sonic 22s.  One of the threads on the 22lr forum spoke to that same load completely penetrating a 10lb turkey at 300 yds.  I've used those loads for squirrel and larger from a Ruger Gov't Model with great success.  I have also used those loads, or standard velocity loads from a Beretta 21A (shorter bbl than the Mosquito) to finish Whitetail hit by cars with complete skull pass-through. 

I think the guys at your range were baggin' ya buddy - if your neighborhood is such that you would favor a suppressed 22 for backyard pests, a suppressed 45 would be far too dangerous, although it would be a ton of fun, and so would a suppressed 22. 

Couple of golden rules - don't use high velocity or high power loads through a suppressed firearm - the suppressor will not suppress the sonic crack of the load and powder residue and buildup will cause a seconday silencer explosion that might take it apart.  Also, the 45 acp is sub-sonic with most loads, especially mil-spec fmj. 

One mo thing - I don't know what distance you would be shootin' at with a suppressed 22 or with one not suppressed, but standard velocity or sub-sonic velocity 22s have better 'carry' and longer distance travel than the high speed loads.  High speed loads lose their velocity and trajectory quicker than the std velocity loads which is why the std velocity loads were always the 'accuracy' loads for the 22lr.  If you check the velocities on the std velocity loads and on the sub-sonic loads, they are all probably within just a few feet per second of each other.  JMTCW.  Mikey.

Thanks for all the great info!  I'd love to get a suppressed 22 and use it on the pesky rodents.  I have a lot of annoying chipmunks drilling holes in everything.  The squirrels can be trouble too at times.  Already had to get rid of one that chewed a hole in the house.  And then there are the woodchucks that get in the garden...

I'm in Southern NH, so there are a lot of liberal Massholes that have moved North to escape Massachusettes, but now want to make NH just like the mess they left.  So, they have lots of Gore, Kerry, and Obama bumper stickers and faint at the sound of a gun.  One neighbor even can't stand mouse traps.  She uses live catch traps and lets them go outside!  When she had squirrels getting into her house, she fired the pest control guy because he caught one in a snare and killed it.  Then she hired another company and made them use live catch traps. (of course I'm sure he didn't tell her what he did with them after he left her house with his catch).  She collects SSDI for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, blaims everything on George Bush, and is hoping for a Democratic sweep so they can get more aid and cheaper medical care.

I guess NH is getting to be like NY in a way, the closer you get to the southern border the more liberal and leftist they become - get closer to the norther border and you have a hard time finding your neighbors house and nobody gives a schmidt about your business..

That's a hoot about the live trap buisness - gotta a neighbor who does the same yet we can watch the mice follow her back down the road to the house - it hurts to laugh so hard.

And I have to tellya that I love that joke, it is so telling.

Sig Mosq,,, too many FTL, FTE (as much as 30% for some ammo).  I sent mine back after 3 weeks.  Got another one from the dealer (a very accomodating person) and had same problem.  A friend and I conducted an extensive test with ammo and found some to perform better than other.  Second mosquito was really no better,,, and buzzzzzed back to the factory.  It did have a great feel but I had a hard time fighting the urge to through it in the lake.

Love my 226 tho!!!!!

----------That's the truth!!!, we have a gun club here at Starke KOA and one of my staff has a new Mosquito and CCI is all it will feed,every thing else jam's,he called SIG and they told him if he send's it back to the factory and they,the factory, will run (ONLY) CCI'S through it and if it work's flawlessly,which it will with the CCI'S, he will have to pay shipping both way's plus the time in the shop!!!!,he's spending the extra $$$$'s for the CCI'S,  on the other hand My Ruger mark 2 (1996) will eat anything,got too love them Ruger's,mine's the slabside compition with the  6-7/8" barrel in blue.

I've had a Mosquito for a couple of years. It would shoot CCI MiniMags fine but wouldn't function properly with the economy packed Federals or Winchesters, the ones that come five hundred to a pack in a loose box. I took it back to the vendor who sent it back to Sig. When I got it back it still won't function properly with the economy pack ammo.

I gave up on it and shoot nothing in it now but CCI MiniMags. Other than this, I like it fine.

I just bought a mosquito and i was wondering if anything can be done about the trigger pull. Mine has the worst trigger pull that I have evre seen. Has anyone adjusted the trigger down?

Pull the trigger on a Taurus Millenium a few times and then go back to your Sig. It will feel like it's been fixed. You can thank me later.

Have had mine a couple of months. Yes, it is picky about ammo, Sig advises to use mini-mags. Works perfect with them. Had Ryan at RGrizzle make me a holster (Country Boy) and a double mag pouch for the Skeeter. Love it.
Since cost of ammo and components is so high now, our IDPD matches are going to include a .22RF match till things settle down. Wont be recognized by IDPA but keeps everyone shooting.

Get one and enjoy it!

never liked the triggers on Sigs. They are quality made weapons though! It is a shame that they cannot design a smooth trigger.

I went to buy a Mosquito and decided to buy a 226 in 22 LR instead. I then bought the .40 S&W two step conversion and I'm thinking of buying the 9mm conversion with a threaded barrel as well. Like the Mosquito, it won't shoot cheap ammo but it will shoot Minimags everytime so I bought 5,000 of those and I'm good to go. It also comes with 2 mags and the Mosquito only comes with one. The 226 costs more than the Skeeter but you get a lot more gun and the option of changing it to a centerfire.
