Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum and I just had to post this.  I just picked up a 12ga/22Mag combo for $41.00 (No that's not a typo) at Sports Authority.  I wasn't even looking for a new rifle.  I already have a 12ga Remington, but for that price I had to pick it up.  It has a few scuffs on the stock, but what the hell, you can't even buy a cheap pellet gun for 41 bucks!

Anyhow, I saw that Rossi is still working on a barrel program and that it seems many of you guys have been waiting around for a while.  What exactly is this progam supposed to do?  Will this mean that you will have to send your rifle back to Rossi for a new barrel or will it just mean that they will start selling barrels on their site?  I really like the 223 heavy barrel and would like to swap my 22mag barrel out for it, but I couldn't find any info on what barrels are interchangeable with which rifles.  All of the rifles seem to be identical at a glance.  Can you put any barrel on any new rifle or are they specific for each model?

My other question is, that I would like to do some trap shooting and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the 12ga for trap?

Thanks in advance.

bigdawg,

You dawg you!  What a steel.

As far as the barrel program goes my understanding is that you will have to send your receiver in to be fitted just like H&R/NEF, that is if they ever get it off the ground.  I also uderstand that there are 2 or 3 different sized receivers which will probably be a factor in what barrels can be fitted.

But these guns (Rossi's and H&R/NEF's both ) are so affordable that IMO I just as soon buy a hole gun in another gauge or caliber than spend nearly as much or more by the time you pay shipping costs and all and have the down time waiting for your gun to come back.

I have never shot trap so can't help you with your other question.

Welcome to Graybeards.
That is a great deal. I would have snapped that up in a heart beat too.
Bret pretty much hit the nail on the head with the Program and receivers.
I haven't shot much Trap either. Check over at the Shotgun forums, you should find what you are looking for there about Trap.
