im new to the web site. i enjoy all my single shots...from contenders to NEF to old H&R to remington bolt action .22's.....

any how i got my HEF handi rifle for CHRISTmas when i was 15, makes it 2003 vintage, a 22 hornet standard barrel blued and cheap wood cause i was startin to varmit hunt more and 30-06 is a lil over kill when you plan on skinnin your kill out....any how im thinkin that it is time for a new barrel to be added and would like to know what barrels that they will fit to that frame from the factory. they do have to be fitted right? or i see in the classifieds some are for sale but what are the chances of proper fit?

Welcome! Please spend some time reading the FAQs and Help sticky, the Accessory Barrel info is in there, new is relative, you can find out when it was made by comparing the serial number prefix with the build year info in the FAQs, H&R won't fit any high pressure * marked barrels on the accessory barrel list to frames made before 1999, but if it is a 2003, any barrel can be fitted except the 10ga and 12ga slug.

If you want to buy a used barrel, just post a want to buy in the classifieds, buying/selling/trading is not allowed in discussion forums. See the barrel fitting info in the FAQs to learn about fitting a second hand barrel to your frame. Wink

Welcome to GBO. The advice you got from Tim is as good as it gets. He is the resident Handi expert, you will find he put a lot of the information into the FAQ.

I also like single shot rifles. I have even converted bolt actions over to single shots - there is something about 1 well placed shot that is satisfing to me. I think it goes back to my childhood. My first two guns were single shots. A Stevens 20 gauge and a Mossberg 22. Good Luck and Good Shooting
