I promised some more pics...

I swapped the stocks on the Shariki to a set of straight lams, I picked up here some years back. I also got rid of the gawd awful sites that came on the thing!!

Here is a LMT slug I had shown before, only now its got new to it wood. Its an older 60's receiver and had allot of drop. The Monte Carlo allows my eye to directly line up with the open sites.

Lastly is another one you have seen before only again with new to it wood!!  Its my 280/25-06/223. THX PHATINJUN!!!  Wink

I saw a beautiful, brandy new, 357mag syn this past weekend... ALMOST had to have it.... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

ok, ill play. this one started out as a with a simple question, "would you hunt with a pink rifle?" my answer was yes. it then moved onto a wager if i were to build or buy a pink rifle, the man placing the wager would have to hunt with it during the 2008 deer season, plus a small cash prize. well, here it is....anyone think he will hunt with it?? doesnt matter, i wont let him hunt with it anyway. but i will take the cash.

either way, it may be just the ticket to get my niece to satart shooting. if not, ill just use it as my new bobcat buster. (pun intended)
the pictures dont really do it justice, it is way brighter than what it looks.

Very nice Brian that gives me an idea I've been wanting to take a family photo myself I think if I take 2 one with Muzzleloaders and pistol calibers and the other with rifle calibers I could get them in. I will need to send the wife out for the day though cause she will freak if she see's them all in one place at one time. Kurt

I finally finished my project just in time for this year's muzzleloader season.

This started as a stainless/synthetic sidekick.
I got rid of the synthetic stock, and put a straight grip cinnamon laminate shotgun stock set on it.  The existing forend screw hole was filled with clear resin, and I milled a new one farther forward to fit the sidekick.  I then milled out a ramrod channel inside the bottom of the forend, and put in a retaining spring.  The front of the forend had to be shortened just under an inch, since the ramrod hole was deeper than the front of the forend was thick.
After finishing the stock, I went to work on the frame.  The pins on a nickel frame are stainless, and polish very easily.  10 minutes on a buffing wheel, and they were all shiny.  The frame surface itself is a different story.  The nickel plating is very thin, and doesn't shine up very easily.  I used some mothers mag polish and a rag, and shined it up as best I could.
The barrel was the easiest part, but the most time consuming.  I spent about 2 hours (just a few minutes here and there) wet sanding the bead blasted finish off the barrel, starting with 400, then 600 and 800 wet sand paper.  For the finishing polish, I turned some short 1" dowels to fit tight in the breech and muzzle, then clamped it in a wood lathe, and let it spin while polishing it with a rag and almost a whole can of mag polish.
The barrel is like a mirror.  If Santa brings me a new camera for Christmas, I'll get some better close-up shots.

Did you order the stock with the recoil pad already installed or did you fit it yourself? If you did it yourself what one did you buy? I have the same stock and would like to put a recoil pad on it but I didn't know what size to get ie., if they make one the correct size or if I would have to fit it.

Here are my two:

Top is myy daughters 410 Tamer.  This stock is the perfect youth stock IMHO.

Bottom is my 45/70.  It has a Boyd's thumb hole stock, Burris 4X20 scope in Zee low rings, cut down hammer to clear the scope, and a backordered matching forend.  The existing forend has had the o-ring treatment.

Ah yes, the tamer stock.

I bought one to put on my new 30-06/444/223/50ML set.  It works great with a limbsaver slip on pad.  I also found that with my full bundle of winter hunting clothes on, if I slip the pad off, eye relief is back to where it needs to be.
