I don't think we'll need to find a cadidate to run against Hilary. This country is going down faster than a woman in a blue dress in the White House. gypsyman

Well, you could have a point there, but we can't prove it. I too, have had that experience, so perhaps my statement on aerosol, COULD be a little to broad.

I don't know if its true or not but someone who escaped from Kalifornia told me they had to pay
a state exit tax when they sold their home with the intent of leaving.

 Not true.

Thanks I didn't know if it was true or not. I have a friend who lives in Capitan and is currently
moving from California to here and she hasn't said anything about it.
I haven't seen her in awhile but that whole area up in Lincoln county is filling up with California
expats. Mostly because of the taxes in Calif. but a lot of them say the gun laws out there were also
a factor. Lincoln is right next door to Ruidoso which has a heavy population of Texans so the
Californians are locking horns with the Texans about everything.

Which I don't understand the people I've meet coming here from California are highly conservative
and nothing like the ones who messed up Colorado. Lets just say a lot of them took advantage of
selling out in Calif. at very high prices and buying homes here for 20% of what they would cost
out there. And with all that money in their pockets and now a NM resident they sure took advantage
of buying up about every gun they always wanted. And I'm talking the high dollar stuff like the FNH
guns even at these rediculous prices. A lot of them I've met just stopped off in Arizona during their
last move and really stocked up in the Phoenix metro area.

The California lawmakers have to see that this is harming their tax base these are professional
people and businesses they are loseing out there not the bums. NM and Az are just sitting back and
laughing saying bring it on guys. Texas is getting everything from the east while we are getting it
from the west and now Colorado is starting to lose people also. We now have a Republican Governer
and at our mid terms our legislature is looking like its going to shift to the right also.
Which is fine with me but the papers attribute that to the influx of Californians along with the Texans
who are already here.

FB,

I've been considering this for a couple of days.  Your question deserves more than a one liner.

Reality is part of the basis for assurance.

As I see the world around me I see the testimony of the reality of Scripture.  Sin is real.  Evil is real.  The testimony of the fall is supported by this reality so the testimony of scripture is based in the reality of what I observe.  There is sin therefore there must be a great righteousness to which this sin is in rebellion.  So at this starting point the scripture is evidenced to be real.

The Gospel of John and 1 John are wonderful books for the reasons which  John states that he was inspired to write the books.  John 3:16 speaks of the reality of belief.  Those who believe will not perish but have eternal life.  The statements are definite.  There are many other such statements throughout the Gospel of John.

1 John teaches us many tests which will show us if we are in Christ.  These tests are not limited to the following but here are a few.

Ch 1:8-10, Do I have a heart that now recognizes and confesses my sin?
Ch 2:3, Is there now a desire to keep the commandments of God rather than rebel against them?
Ch 2:8-11, Am I growing in a love for fellow believers?
Ch 2:15-16, Do I have a love for this world and cling to it or is my desire for God?
Ch 3:6; 3:9, Do I continue in patterns of sin or do I more and more abhor sin and sinful practice because I know that it brings offense to God?
Ch 3:24; The evidence of the Spirit within us.

My affections are changed.  My desires are changed.  The things that I longed for are no longer the same.  While far from perfect, and I can but won't enumerate on that, these things become stronger desires and more greatly evidenced in my life.  The thing that amazes me is this.  I KNOW WHAT I WAS!  I was not like this and yet my heart is changing.  I was headed in a different direction as that was my desire yet my direction has changed.  John Newton made a statement that I will try to quote.  This statement speaks of the reality of the New Birth.

"“I am not what I ought to be. I am not what I want to be. I am not what I hope to be. But still, I am not what I used to be. And by the grace of God, I am what I am.” John Newton

Last week I sat in front of a man who was in tears because of a diagnosis of cancer.  He was distraught.  He voiced the need to change his life noting that he was not ready to die.  This is another reality.  This is not an isolated case.  When men come to the end of their lives there is a stark realization of something beyond.  If this has been ignored or there is uncertainty there is no peace in death.  Yet we see the Apostle Paul note with joy that he would long to depart from this world and be with Christ because to be absent from the body is to be present with Christ.  He had this assurance and this is the peace that I had when I sat with a man with a terminal diagnosis.  A man who is not sure.

I have a peace that Christ has done what I could not do.  The Law demands perfection.  If the law is transgressed at any point the penalty is Death.  No man can or could do this save Christ.  Christ, as Man, lived perfectly as relates to the Law.  He loved God with all of his heart and did not deviate.  By doing so, ONLY Christ was acceptable to pay the price for sin.  He suffered the Wrath of God against sin having become sin and God damned and crushed Him.  He bore this burden to redeem the Bride.  He was raised from the dead and was witnessed.  He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. He is the Propitiation having paid the penalty of my sin.  He is the Intercessor, His sacrifice covering my sins.  The Spirit testifies to my spirit that these are realities not potentialities.

You deserve a more complete answer than this FB.  I feel that I have only touched the edge of the subject.

So your sayin that the "Pilgrims" copied the RCC's way of doin things? If you didn't agree with them, they shunned you? Like the RCC folks in Europe did?
reliquary, your analogy of the "Pilgrims", works equally as well on the RCC. The RCC has it's own little "religious fiefdom". If you ain't catholic, you ain't  _____. That's pretty much the way the RCC got started. They didn't agree with Christ's definition of Christianity, which was "the church is the believers", so they broke off, and started their own church, were MAN ran things.
As far as "peculiar"? Cuttin up bodies and puttin the parts in compartments of catholic alters, is pretty dang peculiar, and prayin to folks that are "dead and buried" is equally peculiar. Especially when the Bible says other wise.

Ms Lizzie...imo, the IRS 'scandals' are reversed engineered by Heritage Foundation (aka Koch Bros front org) using the Tea Party as fodder and FOXy as the megaphone to 'condition the playing ground' in order to ramrod thru future tax reform programs after muddying up the IRS, or even to dismantle the present system as we know it to get a flat tax or some other cockamamie tax project rammed thru which the corpos and  tbeir righties have been clamoring for a long time.. AND GUESS WHO WOULD BENEFIT.??  Cui bono..??
.
I have no love for the IRS collection agency, but let's keep this in perspective. Steven Cobert did a little 'expose' on this funny deal the other night..
