I don't know if its true or not but someone who escaped from Kalifornia told me they had to pay
a state exit tax when they sold their home with the intent of leaving.
Not true.
Thanks I didn't know if it was true or not. I have a friend who lives in Capitan and is currently
moving from California to here and she hasn't said anything about it.
I haven't seen her in awhile but that whole area up in Lincoln county is filling up with California
expats. Mostly because of the taxes in Calif. but a lot of them say the gun laws out there were also
a factor. Lincoln is right next door to Ruidoso which has a heavy population of Texans so the
Californians are locking horns with the Texans about everything.
Which I don't understand the people I've meet coming here from California are highly conservative
and nothing like the ones who messed up Colorado. Lets just say a lot of them took advantage of
selling out in Calif. at very high prices and buying homes here for 20% of what they would cost
out there. And with all that money in their pockets and now a NM resident they sure took advantage
of buying up about every gun they always wanted. And I'm talking the high dollar stuff like the FNH
guns even at these rediculous prices. A lot of them I've met just stopped off in Arizona during their
last move and really stocked up in the Phoenix metro area.
The California lawmakers have to see that this is harming their tax base these are professional
people and businesses they are loseing out there not the bums. NM and Az are just sitting back and
laughing saying bring it on guys. Texas is getting everything from the east while we are getting it
from the west and now Colorado is starting to lose people also. We now have a Republican Governer
and at our mid terms our legislature is looking like its going to shift to the right also.
Which is fine with me but the papers attribute that to the influx of Californians along with the Texans
who are already here.
