Marlin 1894, LTD in 45 colt
« on: February 22, 2011, 12:27:44 PM »
Anyone use one of these. I'm thinking about buying one I found. Nice smooth action, 20" octagon barrel. Feels really good, and points like a dream.  I like it.

Well I bid on it but lost out. I stopped bidding at $800 but others didn't. Don't know how much over that it sold for.  :o

I went looking for a Marlin 1894 in 45 colt and could not find one. The local distributor told me they could not get them.

I tried to contact Marlin but since they moved down south someplace they have no real contact info.

I emailed Remington (who bought Marlin) and was told that the 1894 in 45 colt had been discontinued .

It is still on their web site but if you poke around a bit it becomes obvious that the web site is no longer maintained. I suspect that the Marlin web site guy got left behind when they moved out of Connecticut.

So, I bought a Henry Big Boy  in 45 Colt instead.

Its a nice rifle too, but bulkier then the Marlin and not as short!
