poorcountrypreacher I was back at the store today and Richard has one of the Ruger convertible .45 Colt/.45 ACP with the white grips in stock if you want to go take a look.

Many thanks for the info! But I just decided a couple of weeks ago to go ahead and order one thru my local guy. I will go see him Monday and see what they are telling him about how much longer it will be.

Graybeard, thanks again for letting me know the convertible was available at your local store. I went to see my guy Monday and told him other folks were getting them in and asked why he wasn't. He called Lipseys and fussed at them a little, so they sent one right on out. I picked it up this afternoon and its a very nice looking gun, and fits my hand just right. It feels very similar to the Single 10, so I am happy with the purchase. Got it tax and all for $573. I've got a question about it and will start a new thread to ask.

Good for you bill,
I started out with the same flat Top 44 Special and then had Andy Horvath customize it to build it in to a true Bisley.  Unfortunately it just got to be too much (3 lbs) of a good thing on my hip so I listed it on one of the auction sites recently.
But I think you'll find out that Ruger has the oversized throats think licked finally; mine came in at ideal cast bullet dimensions and shoots the Lyman 429421 without leading, better than anything.

Those horse pistols do want to stretch the suspenders! I have a shoulder rig now just to keep from hitchin' my pants back up all the time, but even that with a 3# might make a guy list to port (if right handed). Next option is a gun bearer.......

Graybeard wants pics, so I'll try to post one. You can compare the size of the Single 10 with the Lipsey's Blackhawk. The grips have about the same dimensions, and both guns feel about the same in my hand. My old eyes much prefer the sights on the Single 10.
