The body guard ?

 Is this a decent gun ? I got one for my wife to carry during her work. However you can"t see the lazer when it's bright outside or in the house. Is this normal. Imput appreciated. Thanks

What kinda laser? I have CTC laser grips on my 3" M60 .357 Mag and can shoot more accurately with the laser than the sights. I can usually see it OK except in bright sunlight.

My M638 body guard has the factory boot grips on it cuz it is primarily for concealed carry in situations I don't want to carry more weight.

Never become too dependent on a laser cuz if ya do and it fails to work ya don't know what to do. Train her with the sights such as they are and just make sure the laser is sighted to POA at ten yards or less. I like my lasers but do not assume they will always work so train with the sights as well as with the laser.

I have a Bodyguard 38 with a laser and I am very pleased with it. When I was trying to decide on buying it, the salesman told me to point the laser at the front wall. The store was very brightly lit and at 60' from where I was standing to the front wall (owner had measured it for bore sighting) the laser dot was very bright and about the size of a saucer in diameter with the center of the dot being bright and then tapering toward the edges. The wall was heart pine. Now, on a bright, sunny day expect to point and shoot.  The gun is lighter than what I like, but that makes for a comfortable carry.  I do not shoot +P's, just standard .38 on the range because of my arthritic shooting hand, but I do load it with +P's when I am CC. The laser is a little tricky to sight in, but when you get there it stays. I am thinking about trying a larger J grip for a better hold because I feel I can get more control.  The laser is made by Laserlyte or Laserlite, I believe.

I borrowed a friend's LCP and my Dad's BG 380 to try out and decide which one I liked best.  There were no issues with either pistol with regards to functioning.  I shot tighter groups with the Smith even though I felt that the LCP had a slightly better trigger pull.  The Smith also fit my hand a little better.  Add in that the Smith came with a laser for low light sighting when it would be impossible to even see the LCP sights and the Smith was the hands down winner for me.  I now have my first Smith & Wesson pistol.  My only issue with it has been that the safety is EXTREMELY difficult to switch on and only a little easier to take off.  It does seem to be getting better with use and will come off safety now pretty easily.  I think that the safety could stand to stick out a tiny bit farther from the frame.
