Picked up a Handi in .243 today at the LGS for $125; with synthetic stock. Minor wear on the bluing for both barrel and frame. Plan to use it to stub for a .45 ACP I'm planning. That won't start till after the first of the year. gene
I don't have the skill either, but have a couple of friends who do. Probably will do some trading for the work. Will post some pictures when done. geneGhosth said:WTG Gene, keep us informed on how that .45acp project goes.
I'd love to have one but I'm afraid I don't have the tools/skills to do one that way and I'm reluctant to spend enough to have someone else do it for me.
Well, the machine work is done. Pictures below. I traded a couple of shotgun barrels for the work to a guy at our gun club. He has a build of his own going on but needed a donor barrel for a 300 BO and a 410 for his grand daughter. His one comment was that the .243 barrel steel machined just like mild steel, not like gun quality steel (his observation not mine). Barrel is 16.5". Chambered with a home made reamer. I got to shoot it this afternoon (no sights yet). I haven't decided on the finish for sure, but perhaps a cold blue.gene_225 said:I don't have the skill either, but have a couple of friends who do. He said he braised it on.nanuk-O-dah-Nort said:I like the transition from barrel to stub
nice job from what I can see
how did you attach the forearm stud?
The thought hadn't even crossed my mind. Thanks for sharing that idea. Now....I know what I want!
