Default Got a deal today

Picked up a Handi in .243 today at the LGS for $125; with synthetic stock. Minor wear on the bluing for both barrel and frame. Plan to use it to stub for a .45 ACP I'm planning. That won't start till after the first of the year. gene

WTG Gene, keep us informed on how that .45acp project goes.

I'd love to have one but I'm afraid I don't have the tools/skills to do one that way and I'm reluctant to spend enough to have someone else do it for me.

Interests wide and widely varying.
Happily married 18 years. Retired on SS with lots of time to spend.
Started with .223 Ultra Bull barrel. Added .357 Talo barrel. Added an action and stock set bought here, 7.62x39 barrel. Then bought complete guns .444 Marlin and .300 Blackout. Leaving me at 4 complete rifles plus a barrel. Plus a 9mm stub job bought here, and I have been finding and buying H&R shotguns at our local pawn shop where they seem to go cheap.

I don't have the skill either, but have a couple of friends who do. Probably will do some trading for the work. Will post some pictures when done. gene

Well, the machine work is done. Pictures below. I traded a couple of shotgun barrels for the work to a guy at our gun club. He has a build of his own going on but needed a donor barrel for a 300 BO and a 410 for his grand daughter. His one comment was that the .243 barrel steel machined just like mild steel, not like gun quality steel (his observation not mine). Barrel is 16.5". Chambered with a home made reamer. I got to shoot it this afternoon (no sights yet). I haven't decided on the finish for sure, but perhaps a cold blue.

I like the transition from barrel to stub

nice job from what I can see

I am ONLY responsible for what I say
I am NOT responsible for what you THINK I said

First trip to the range. 25 yds. with mixed military ammo from WWII. Hope to do better when I have better ammo.
