Default Show and Tell

Hello all, just joined here after lurking around for awhile. I picked up this 45/70 Handi last fall and it has really got me interested in the H&R's again. I've had a few of their rifles and shotguns over the years, killed my first ducks with a 20ga Topper. The 45/70 is currently my only H&R, but I'm thinking that's soon to change! I can't take credit for most of the work done to this one, the previous owner said he wanted a "Buffalo Classic Carbine" so he built himself one!

I like the more earthy look on that stock. Nice looking piece.

Welcome back to the world of H&R, you are safely "home" among friends. I hope your rifle shoots well for you. It looks as though the past owner spent some $ on decent sights, I like my 45-70 but it just looks like a plain Jane. Congrats on your good find! -thejanitor

Thanks all. I'm considering replacing the rear sight (Williams FP-H&R-TK) with a Skinner peep sight. Anyone here use the Skinner? Opinions?

Nice finish on that stock set!

It starts with one, it can be big or small.
Watch out or you will end up with a dozen.
Its catchy.

Interests wide and widely varying.
Happily married 18 years. Retired on SS with lots of time to spend.
Started with .223 Ultra Bull barrel. Added .357 Talo barrel. Added an action and stock set bought here, 7.62x39 barrel. Then bought complete guns .444 Marlin and .300 Blackout. Leaving me at 4 complete rifles plus a barrel. Plus a 9mm stub job bought here, and I have been finding and buying H&R shotguns at our local pawn shop where they seem to go cheap.

Neat looking 45-70, I would keep the rear sight, it has a lot more range than most others. I love the 45-70, have 4 of them. It takes a lot of restraint to not get addicted. howie

Handi's .223, .30-30, .44 mag,. 45-70 talo
.45-70 .45-70 BC, .500 S&W, Sportster, .50 huntsman ML
