Default 45 Long Colt

I found a very nice .45 LC Buffalo Classic with 20" barrel for $400 (he was asking $475). Is it worth that? Is it a suitable caliber for deer to 100 yards max? Where I would use it would be likely 50 yards max...

$400 isn't unreasonable, congrats!

If it is something you want that is a good price. And yep, with the right loads it will be good for deer to 100 yds. It can be loaded a bit hotter than a .44 mag with the right loads or just by you a box of Buffalo Bore bullets for it. Have fun with it. I have wanted to find one of them reasonable for a while now.

And they are good for a even more yards out that that!
$400 for nice clean examples seems to be the new normal. Its just money, it aint worth anything, where ya gonna find a traditional looking 45C rifle any cheaper?

They are not making NEF firearms any more, figure the prices will start going up. Good find.

You did fine, if you don't like it you can make that 400 back by parting it out.

I think I recently read where someone gave $400 for just a barrel.

Thanks, Dinny

I think $400 is reasonable for the carbine. I hunt with mine and the Hornady Leverevolution 225 gr FTX does a good job on deer. I have also used the Buffalo Bore Deer Grenade and it is a great round for hog hunting.

LGS has one for $600. Has been sitting there for months now. I have one, so am not tempted.
