Default Been a while, making an appearance

It's been some time since I posted anything on GBO or even logged in. I'm bad about managing my password and that combined with a total crash of my old computer...well...I have been coming here from time to time as a “guest” in order to glean any new info on Handis, cartridges etc. but I've not had anything of value to add so I've stayed in read-only mode.

I had done a barrel stub job on a Handi Rifle and chambered it 22 K Hornet with the GBO reamer. Several folks here sent me brass and provided information, really making it all possible. Then, I stopped shooting the gun because I had a flaw develop in the bore causing bullets to tumble. I don't really understand it but it's like one place in the bore started shedding metal, like chunks were coming out. In any event, that put a stop to the fun.

Yesterday, someone gave me a new 22 caliber barrel blank. So I'm going to re-barrel that Handi and again chamber it it 22 K Hornet, hopefully using the GBO reamer. With that in mind I resent my password here and figured I should at least say hello. I'll be asking to rent that reamer in a couple of weeks after I profile and fit that barrel blank. So yeah...that's about it.

Thanks everyone!

Issues with my free barrel already...the .2190 pilot bushing on my 60 degree center reamer will not enter the bore. That alone may not be a problem, I can buy a smaller bushing once I figure out what the actual bore size is by either slugging or cerrosafe cast. But a couple concerns; one is I don't remember if the GBO reamer has an interchangeable pilot or a fixed pilot, and if it's fixed what size it is. The other is I want to use .224 projectiles. If the bore is .217, as in 22 rim fire or old-fashioned hornet, I'm restricted to .222 bullets which aren't real common.

I was told it's a 9 twist but I need to verify that as well.

GBO KHornet pilot is solid, measures .2165" with my digital caliper.
