Default 1871 Handi rifle with Microgroove rifling?

I just bought a used H&R 1871 Handi Rifle in 30-30 caliber, rifle sights and laminated stock. Made in NY. Looking down the barrel, I noticed that it appears to have microgroove rifling. What gives? Never seen that before in a Handi rifle.

Yes, ever since Marlin got involved in 2000 making barrels for H&R rifles.
