The .350 Legend bullet and throat diameter is .357 inch.

Both have a .355 groove and .346 bore diameter according to SAAMI.

Increasing the throat diameter of the .350 Legend to .358 or .359 inch would allow us to use the same bullets we load the .357 Max with.

How would that affect accuracy?

Having a .358" diameter throat would allow more common .357 bullets instead of the .355 bullets that the factory ammo is using. I could even go .3585" and be set up to shoot .358" diameter cast bullets.

To me the biggest downfall of the cartridge is the .355" bullet. Hard to come by for reloaders and an unnecessary hindrance created to sell more factory ammo.

Accuracy would likely be better in a tighter match chamber instead of the looser SAAMI chamber. In a single shot a loose chamber is not needed to promote reliable feeding.

Only one way to find out...

All of my favorite creatures have white bottoms.

I would think powder and primer selection would have a larger impact on accuracy than the larger 358/359 throat. I see no drawbacks to the improved throat.

I see it now, the 350 Legend Improved 😉

Thanks, Dinny

I reload and shoot 348 Win, 358 Win, 6.5 Grendel, 30-06 Springfield, 300 BLK, 44 Mag, 357 Maximum, 9mm, 45 ACP, 45 Colt, 225 Win and 35 Rem

I bet you, it won't be long, and all the bullet makers will be making hunting bullets for the Legend.

As far as the BIG makers go, they are pretty much already on the bandwagon. Once Hornady jumped, the rest won't sit by and let them have the market.
