Here's a few photos of my 30-30 topper. With the low hammer spur I was able to mount a Redfield 2x7 with low Leupold Rifleman rings on a Leupold rail.

Loaded my first ever Maxi rounds. I did (5) 20.0 H110 and (5) 21.0 H110 under 180 gr XTP's and Remington 7-1/2 primers. These only have one grove so I seated to the bottom of the groove and no crimp. They chamber and close fine. The plan is to zero with 158 gr factory 357 mag loads. Then group the 20.0 load and assuming no pressure signs group the 21.0 load. If one does great I'll try the 180 SSP's. If I can get 1800-2000 fps I'll be a happy camper.

The scope mounting shows the right way to get the mount as low as possible by moving the scope's eye piece completely behind the hammer spur. This should be low enough to see through the scope and still have a cheek weld to the low comb stock.
