I checked the FAQs and was unable to find the "date of manufacture by serial number". Can someone point me in the right direction? The s/n on the receiver begins with HX. Thanks.:tango_face_glasses:
Thanks Guys, I appreciate the help. In that mfgr. date list, it seems to indicate the gun may have been built in 1961 or 2007. Am I reading the tables wrong?
Key is Two letter prefix starting with N or H, second letter..... Anything made prior to 1987 was made by H&R Inc(1953-'86) or H&R Arms(<1953), 1987 on was NEF or H&R.

A= 1986 H&R will only fit the original chambering(replacement for defective rifle), 357Mag, 44mag, and shotgun barrels to these frames

Y=2008 serial number prefixes changed in May 2008 and on, CBA for SB2 and CAC for SB1, the only source for build year is to call and ask (866)776-9292.
Thanks Tim, that cleared it right up for me. Had my gun been built in 1961, it would have been serialized "Z"xxxxxxx, not "HZ"xxxxxxx. Appreciate the help.
