Default 300 Blackout Thread

Well like most all things I missed the curve on this round and the inexpensive at the time AAC Blackout. But recently I did purchase a factory one and was really impressed with the Handi-ness of it all. Really impressed on the many versatile ammo choices and both sub and super sonic. I think I'm gonna like it. I did a couple of improvements. I added an adult old style MC stock to it (thanks Lt Dave). I did put a Bushnell Red dot on it. First red dot for me and not for sure that's my cup of tea. My next move will be a linear compensator from JoseBobs or maybe the brake from Sure Fire. I'm open to suggestions. Please tell me about yours and any mods and pics please. Ammo choices, scopes etc. Thanks

Looks good. Punch some paper and post some targets.

All of my favorite creatures have white bottoms.

I need professional help.....I don't understand the .300 Blackout. I don't see where my Maxi can't do it better. Subsonic? .38+P 158 gr 1000 fps. More meplat than .30 cal. 180 gr SSP 2150 FPS? Am I missing something? Oh, yes, my .32-20s fill in right there in the low end and middle also; sub-sonic up to 100 gr at 2200 fps..

Pete

Now Uncle Pete, you know how much I am an avid Maxi lover. My factory Maxi is coming together nicely. It's a niche rifle that has a lot of possibilities that doesn't seem to need to find that happy median load. It will never be the maxi but it has its place.

I am looking to purchase one of these with the stock it came with. If anyone has one for sale, I’d appreciate a message. Thanks.

You have to hold one to understand the small size and lightweight. It's different than a standard shorty by at least a pound or two.

Oh I retained the factory stock but it's short which I can deal with but doesn't have very little cheek weld on it.

I agree Dave. This is the lightest Handi ever.

This WAS me till 2011. When I learned RUGER was gonna make American Ranch Rifle in 300.
I walked into my local GS before they actually opened. There was cleaning people there and door was open so I walked in. Was about 9:15. Turns out that they opened at 10 but I couldn’t remember so I went for 09:00.

I walked to the used rack and WOAH WHATS THAT!!! It was a RARR!! This was early October and the price was 389.99. I latched on and didn't put it down.

The guy at the counter misunder stood me and told me that these where not out and had just been offered. I said NO NO. I will BUY THIS ONE! He looked and went in the back.

Came out and said no one is in yet where did ya get this? I told him... Huh he said OK and sold it to me.

Later I bred from my friend that it was a prototype sent
To this shop cause they sell ALLOT of Rugers. The buyer left it on the counter night before and someone put in used rack where I found it. It was not supposed to be sold. 😉.

It’s the most unbelievable shooter!! It’s a honest 1/2 MOA shooter and I LOVE IT!!

It taken near a dozen deer for me. It’s light short very little recoil and excessive accuracy makes it a easy choice for close range deer here. I have used most bullets that are appropriate.
Up till last week it’s top load was 17g 4227 and a 150 Hornady sp.

I say that cause I mounted new bases and rings and a new/ used Redfield Widefield 6x scope. I shot @least 7 different loads Sunday. EVERY SINGLE ONE was under 1” @ 100 yards. A couple where UNDER 1/2”!! 300MP and a 110 Speer in previously fired neck sized cases shot a SINGLE 40 cal hole For five at 100 yards.

20g of 300 MP and a deep seated 2.100 OAL, 135g FTX shot SAME!!! Only a 2.200 seated 135g FTX using same
Charge shot a ragged hole group of just about 1”. It liked looked just like Italy!

I’m a FIRM believer that these Dual Dovetail rings are ALL THERE SHOULD BE!! It the only ones I’ll buy!! Something else I have started is a small dab of blk RTV on bottom Ring. Just a touch or they are **** to remove. Ya just wanna 100% stop any and all possible Movement. I am also able to easily lap rings in this system.

I have done four rifles so far. EACH ONE SHOWED BETTER ACCURACY!!

I also discovered that 15.3g of 3031 and a 165 RD HO I cast shoots into a nickel at 50 with this gun now. A accurate truly accurate cast bullet lod has eluded me until this one. Bad part is these won’t feed. Not a chance in heck. But single loaded they shoot awesomely!

Pete.
Yes what you have will ultimately the same results. But much like ya didn’t know the 32-20 potential untill I showed ya... This one is a treasure.

My own 82 yr old pop is smitten! I “lost” this rifle to him two years ago! We where in VT hunting and he all of a sudden didn’t like the 8# gun he brought. I offers my 300 telling him of its light weight short bbl and light recoil all with accuracy making this a true “eye ball shooter”. He shot a butter ball 5 pointer that morning behind the camp after the rest of us headed up the mountain. He was within site of the porch!! Bang flop base of the neck with a 110Barnes. I’m glad I only gave him 6 bullets cause I only hot it back last fall cause he was outta bullets!!! I offers to buy him one he said why I got yours! I almost bought a new one for myself but I haven’t seen another rotary mag.

Anyhow. If y get a chance to shoot someone’s give it a go!! If we was closer I’d drop mine off for ya!!
