Grandpa always said that our family was deep rooted in northern Iowa long before the indians showed up and the indians were never a problem. In fact Crazy horse, Sitting Bull and even ole Custer himself were a bunch of pussies that knew better than to set foot on his land. I think that was grandpa's way of saying that he didn't know much about our heritage! Ha!

Weren't the Cherokee the ones who were in the trail of tears? They were relocated by the Army.
To Oklahoma I think, originally from the south.
