Default Something really stinks!

Last night about 7:00 I walked down the hall towards my bedroom and a wave of stink hit me. Something is dead in the wall. I went and got Roy out of the pen and put his nose to work and he said it was in the wall right above the cold air return. I now have a hole in the sheetrock to fix and didn't find the dead thing. My house is a ranch style house and after searching high and low I can't see any place where anything of any size could get in the house. It must be a mouse!

My house is 2.5 blocks from the school maintenance building where I report to work. I saw 6 stray cats in that 2.5 blocks this morning at daylight and they all looked fat and sassy. That stupid old women two houses south of me keeps a big pan of food out so that they don't even know that a mouse is a food source.

I walked in the house a few minutes ago for lunch. The smell made my apatite dwindle. I ended up not eating but rather taking the furnace apart looking for a stinking furry blob. I ran out of time, but tonight the duct work is coming apart. I am getting close! The cold air return is where it's coming from.

The good thing is that I know how fix all the carnage that I am causing by dismantling my house!

Stray cats can spray in my bushes and dig hole and poop in the mulch but could care less about mice. Grandpa's lived in the middle of a cornfield and never had mice in his house cuz his cats were real cats unlike these. Live targets and something for Roy to play with and that is all the value they hold.

i have the same problem with the inconsiderate neighbor leaving food out 24/7.
it also draws vermin of all sorts, other stray domesticated animals, possums,
and anything that wants a free meal.
she also has to have her house sprayed regularly for fleas and ticks that all
these "poor" animals draw and spread around. nothing like the smell of hot
cat pi$$ huh ?
if one of these SHTF situations were to arise for real, i would have to (and you
and anyone else) go on a cat hunting expedition to keep them and the rats
and other vermin from spreading deadly disease. people never think about
that aspect of it

Usually the dead rodent is at base level. I.e. 1.5s off the Osb floor. Laying right on top of the sole plate. Nuthin like the stink of death... Poisoning them is usually the culprit...

Every 10 years or so a squirrel fanagals his way into my attic, then down into a wall.

You got squirrels gpa&hisguns?
I'd rather deal with the mice myself than put up with the cats.

Besides, cats are off season sport.

I had a mouse make a nest in the insulation surrounding the oven box in my stove, So to show it who is boss I decided to bake a pizza apparently with all aboard, thought the frozen pizza was rancid I KNOW I KNOW frozen OMG so I tossed it and baked another ( slow learner ) next day tore the stove apart no way to salvage it, a few months later I experienced the same as you but in the laundry room, dissembled the dryer first, you guessed it nope, the walls are left with out sheet rock now just in case !! HA showed them mice
